Mocada, who paid a visit to Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of new Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, made the remarks in an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
He said that considering the promising talks with President Raisi, he sees a bright future for the continuation of friendly relations between the two countries.
The Nicaraguan foreign minister said that Iran and Nicaragua have witnessed two different revolutions in 1979 which have strengthened cooperation between the two states in international organizations in the face of bullying and aggressive countries.
He said that his country is seeking further economic relations with Iran, on food security, agricultural products, and the health sector, in particular, referring to talks with the Iranian minister of health for buying vaccines from Iran.
Asked about Nicaragua’s stance on Iran nuclear deal – best known as the JCPOA – and the US unilateral sanctions on Iran, Mocada said that Nicaragua has repeatedly condemned the illegal and illegitimate measures of the US and some European countries against Iran and Nicaragua.
Iran fulfilled all its commitments under the JCPOA as a sovereign country and it was the US that actually withdrew from the accord and has to be held accountable for its breach of the deal, the Nicaraguan foreign minister pointed out.
